
Shoriful Islam, Shakib Al Hasan has been named to Bangladesh Cricket Board’s 16-man team for the first Test of the forthcoming home series against Sri Lanka, which begins on May 15. BCB had previously stated that he will miss the first game due to surgery, but they are now sure that he will be ready on time. Due to injury, Shoriful and Taskin Ahmed returned home after the first Test in South Africa.
The return of Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan, who missed the Tests in South Africa and returned home after the ODIs, is anticipated to return to the long format after a long absence following his absence from the series in South Africa and New Zealand. Pace bowlers Abu Jayed Rahi and Shadman Islam were left out of the squad, while pace bowler Rejaur Rahman, who has yet to make his debut and is recalled.
Abu Jayed has been kept in the practice game. They have not included him for the Test series because of his lack of pace, but they are hopeful that he can make a comeback sooner rather than later by correcting all of his flaws, BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin stated. Shadman has been mostly dropped as a result of his form.

Injury concerns for Bangladesh after the return of Shakib Al Hasan

Two of Bangladesh’s veterans, Mehidy Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, were injured while playing in the Dhaka Premier League on the day the team was named. While fielding in the deep, Mushfiqur twisted his left ankle, while Mehidy injured his index finger while completing a catch – of Tamim Iqbal. Mehidy was transferred to a nearby hospital and Mushfiqur was given ice therapy.
Sri Lanka’s cricket squad will travel to Bangladesh on May 8 for a two-match series as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-2023. On October 10-11, the touring team will play a two-day practice game at BKSP. Officials from the BCB told Cricbuzz that the practice game was moved from Chattogram to Dhaka at the request of the visitors. The first Test begins on May 15 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram, and the second begins on May 23 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka.
