RCB vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings bags their first-ever win in the newest edition of the Indian Premier League after a tightly fought battle against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Thanks to the well-stitched partnership of Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa, who held a massive 165-run stand to set the platform for Chennai to win their 23-run victory.
RCB vs CSK: The game-changing partnership
Chennai Super Kings required a sparkle of inspiration after losing four games in a row. Head Coach Stephen Fleming had stated that the players were in self-doubt. Fortunately, Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube took the responsibility into their head and delivered the spark that was required with a game-changing partnership.
The duo joined hands with the side in a position where they lost 2 wickets with 36 runs in hand in the 7th over. Dube and Uthappa decided to return the attack back to the opposition with the help of a couple of boundaries off Akash Deep. Perhaps, this was just what CSK required to find a way out of the quicksand.

Robin Uthappa shifted gears hitting three sixes off Glenn Maxwell. CSK fetched 58 runs over a period of four overs and the momentum had shifted before RCB could do anything about it. Eventually, Uthappa and Dube fell short of their respective centuries by 12 and 5 runs respectively. They finished their job successfully conjuring a massive total of 216 in 20 overs.

RCB vs CSK: RCB’s approach to the chase

RCB seemed to be in trouble by the end of the powerplay itself as they lost 3 wickets for 42. Faf du Plessis mishit one-off Maheesh’s deliveries to the long-on. Virat Kohli chose the fielder in the deep on the on-side off Mukesh Choudhary. Theekshana was pressurized by Glenn Maxwell with back-to-back sixes in the sixth over. One of the shots was flat-batted in the long-off. However, Theekshana continued his glory by sending off Anuj Rawat in the same over with a carrom ball. RCB was on a downhill by the time Maxwell was send-off by Ravindra Jadeja.
Shahbaz Ahmed played a fine inning of 41 while the in-form Dinesh Karthik took them for a joyride with a 14-ball 34. It was too much on his head as he managed his side to a total of 193/9 on the scoreboard.
