In the IPL 2022, Ravindra Jadeja will pass over the CSK captaincy to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The four-time winners have had a disappointing season so far, sitting in ninth place in the points table. They had one of their worst starts to a season, losing four of their first five games. Dhoni guided Chennai to four IPL titles, but he announced his retirement as captain just before the start of the new season.
CSK captaincy changes due to the poor form
The CSK statement said, MS Dhoni, has accepted to head CSK in the wider interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game.
Despite the fact that Jadeja had been given the captaincy, it appeared that Dhoni was still making the decisions and changing field placements during matches.
In addition to CSK’s dismal form, Jadeja has had a difficult time in the event, scoring only 112 runs in 92 balls.
Chennai will meet Sunrisers Hyderabad in their ninth game of the season tomorrow at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

CSK captaincy: Dhoni’s debut match as a captain

Dhoni’s debut match as captain will take place in Pune on Sunday, against Kane Williamson’s SRH, who are currently in the top half of the table.
According to a CSK statement, Jadeja handed the captaincy back to MS Dhoni so he could focus on his game. Dhoni has been synonymous with the Super Kings in the IPL, having led them to claim four titles. MS Dhoni faced criticism after a bad season in 2020 before coming back to win the IPL in 2021.
In particular, throughout his time as CSK captain, Jadeja has struggled in the tournament. He scored 112 runs in 92 balls at a strike rate of 121.7, with a boundary every 8.3 balls, while also taking five wickets at an economy rate of 8.19 in eight innings.
Early CSK captaincy pre and post ban
Dhoni has represented Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 and 2017 while CSK was suspended for two years following the spot-fixing controversy. In 2018, Dhoni returned to CSK and had one of his best years with the bat in the IPL, scoring 455 runs at a strike rate of 150.66 to help CSK win the championship.
MS Dhoni had hammered a quick-fire fifty against Kolkata Knight Riders in the season’s first match, and then turned the clock back with a brilliant blitz against Mumbai Indians, leading CSK to a thrilling last-ball triumph.
MS Dhoni accepts CSK captaincy once again

CSK has won two of the eight matches it has played so far and is currently ranked 9th in the IPL 2022 points table, just ahead of Mumbai Indians, who had lost eight of their eight matches as of writing this piece.
Many fans and experts saw that although Jadeja patrolled the boundary, Dhoni was the one making field placement decisions, and one of the clearest examples of this was his field placement when Kieron Pollard was dismissed against CSK in their previous match.
