Let’s rewind this season a little bit and take a look at some of the main IPL highlights. Despite the fact that Rohit Sharma was removed for two, the Mumbai Indians averted the ignominy of equaling the IPL’s longest losing streak on his 35th birthday. Their first victory in the IPL 2022, over the high-flying Rajasthan Royals, was put in motion by an outstanding bowling effort led by 24-year-old debutant Kumar Kartikeya, whose left-arm spin slowed the Royals’ momentum through the middle overs.
Jos Buttler scored 67 off 52 balls but was restricted to 43 off 46 before escaping in one Hrithik Shokeen over. Despite his four sixes, the Royals were held to 158 runs, a score that was made worse by the presence of dew. Suryakumar Yadav’s 39-ball 51 put an end to any doubts that the five-time champions would suffer another batting collapse.
IPL highlights: The RCB’s mid-season mess
Whereas MI won their first game in nine, Gujarat Titans made it 8 out of 9 with a clinical chase against RCB, condemning their opponents to a third straight defeat and unsettling their playoff-bound boat. Virat Kohli finally broke his run drought with a half-century, but his under-powered 58 off 53 didn’t help the team’s cause, as they finished with a score of 170. The Titans were kept in check by the bowlers, led by Wanindu Hasaranga, but Rahul Tewatia and David Miller aced another tough finish.
IPL highlights: Dhoni reclaims the captaincy of CSK after Jadeja relinquishes it.

CSK, the four-time winners, declared last night that MS Dhoni will take over as captain once more after a strangely unsettled season. Ravindra Jadeja opted to surrender the post he had inherited days before the start of IPL 2022 to focus and concentrate more on his cricket, according to a statement. He has 112 runs at a strike rate of 121.73 in eight games, as well as five wickets at 42.60 and an economy rate of 8.19. It is believed that the decision was not reached in a mutual agreement between Jadeja and Dhoni and that it may have included a management move as well.
IPL highlights: The new (old) captain has a mission…
…would be to keep the season from fizzling out. CSK are mathematically still in contention for a Playoff berth, but it remains a long shot. A winning streak from here on out, on the other hand, should alleviate some of the season’s burden. The captain’s first match is against SRH, one of the tournament’s best teams. Surprisingly, SRH’s winning streak this season began in the opposite fixture against CSK. They came up short against the Gujarat Titans the last time around and would be eager to get back on track.

IPL highlights: The thrilling afternoon game

The Delhi Capitals will face the Lucknow Super Giants in their first afternoon game at the Wankhede this season, with a chance to move up in the standings. They’ve had a tumultuous season that’s gone WLLWLWLW, and it’s not necessarily been due to their struggles on the field. They appear to have all of their people back and are ready to go now. They should be a big force in the run if one of them can rise up like Kuldeep Yadav has.
