Liverpool tore apart Leeds at Anfield by a 6-0 win. Pep Guardiola must have felt the heat on his back in Manchester. City’s dominance in the league by a 12 point lead has come to an end as Jurgen Klopp’s red lads are closing in.
Mohammed Salah’s twin penalty set the rhythm for Liverpool. The attacking duo’s mission was completed as Mane scored a brace as well.
Klopp got a bit carried away at the stadium after the match. Salah, Mane and Matip, Van Djik stole the whole match by scoring goals. The twin star forwards of Liverpool scored a double brace while the two central defenders scored one each.
When the defenders shined for Liverpool
The central defenders Virgil Van Djik and Joel Matip were on the mark for Liverpool. Matip’s pass to Salah and receiving an assist from him for Matip to score was the highlight of the match. Matip became the 17th goal scorer to score in the season for Liverpool.
Andy Robertson’s corner got netted by Van Djik by a wonderful header making it the 6th goal against Leeds. The scoresheet had perfect balance as it was both attackers and defenders who scored in the match.
Liverpool’s title race
Manchester City’s lead is now closed down by Liverpool with only a difference of 3 points. The title contenders have scored 106 goals in all competitions of this season. They turned the table around City as an intent for the title race and preparation for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.

The coach Jurgen Klopp said that they are not chasing City, but trying to win all the games that they are playing. He added that they have a cup final coming and City is playing probably Everton on the weekend. However, they are not counting on City leading or gaining points. They are just focused on winning the games.
Hungry Liverpool and vulnerable Leeds
Liverpool’s hunger was evident from the start itself as Fabinho and Curtis Jones tackled everyone. The newly added Luis Diaz took care of the left part of the ground. Liverpool exploited the vulnerable defense of Leeds. Leeds conceded 54 goals in Premier League last season. It shot up to 56 goals in 25 league games this season.

Bielsa could be seen helpless on the ground questioning himself though he is a veteran. He needs to find a solution once and for all as his permeable team is slipping into trouble.
