The Bangladesh t20 skipper Mahmudullah stated on Wednesday that they are looking forward to resolving their issues regarding powerplay. They need to resolve the issue ahead of the match against Afghanistan in the two-match T20I series, scheduled in Dhaka.
Bangladesh has failed to shine in the powerplay in the shortest format and it was shown again in their last T20 assignment at home against Pakistan. They put up scores of 25-3, 36-2, and 33-1 respectively in the three games.
Mahmudullah’s squad has a new batting prodigy Munim Shahriar in the T20 format. He got drafted due to the ability he displayed to score freely during the powerplay phase in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Mahmudullah’s statement
The skipper in a press meet stated that hopefully, they will be able to get out of the powerplay slump. They will be on the right track if they can do it. They have to be more consistent and score 150-160 runs so that they have a chance in the game against whichever team they play.
“The newly recruited Munim has a good chance tomorrow”, Mahmudullah said. He also mentioned that he is not ready to blame the top order for the batting failures in the shortest format.
Mahmudullah also mentioned that they are looking to play with a cheerful attitude in this format. Also, be consistent ahead of the next T20 World Cup that is scheduled to be held in Australia this year.
Tactics ahead of the next game through Mahmudullah
Captain Mahmudullah said that he won’t be able to describe the style aspects that they are going to put forward. He prefers to bat with intent and positivity while facing the ball fearlessly. However, the bowlers need to have the same attitude as well. They generally prefer positivity rather than any other things at the moment.
Bangladesh lost their last eight appearances in the T20 format and the form of Mahmudullah came under scrutiny. He scored only 110 in that stint.
He said that he was not able to deliver in the ODIs but will try to meet the expectations of the team and fulfill them. It is normal to not be successful on some days but Mahmudullah believes that if he puts his heart out for the team, he will be able to achieve the vision.
