
The English opener Jason Roy has pulled out of the upcoming IPL 2022 for personal reasons. Roy was picked by the newly added franchise Gujarat Titans at a base price of INR 2 crores. Roy stated that the cricket in the pandemic enforced bio-bubbles had taken a toll on his mental health over the last three years.
Jason Roy’s statement
Jason Roy has stated in his situation that he decided to pull out of this year’s Indian Premier League with a heavy heart. He said he wanted to thank Gujarat Titans management and the skipper Hardik Pandya for putting faith in him. However, he admitted that the events going on over the last 3 years have taken a toll on him.
He also added that it is time that he should spend some time with his family. It is important to work on himself and his game over the next couple of months leading into a very busy year. He said he will support Gujarat Titans along the journey and wants to see them lift the trophy in their first year of the tournament.
He finally thanked everyone for the support that they showered and Jason Roy hopes everyone will respect and appreciate his decision.
Jason Roy IPL Journey
Jason Roy appeared for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021, coming in as a replacement for Mitchell marsh. In IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals signed him before pulling out due to personal reasons. Since making his IPL debut in 2017, Jason Roy has played only 13 games in the competition scoring 329 runs at an average of 29.91.
At the Pakistan Super League, Roy was in his top form and became the top scorer for Quetta Gladiators with 303 runs at a strike rate of 170.22. Participating in the IPL 2022 indicated that Jason Roy will be in a bio-bubble for another two months. Gujarat Titans are yet to confirm a replacement player for him.
