Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auction and Chennai Super Kings did not retain him as well. Nobody did show any interest in buying the veteran batsman.
Suresh Raina, also known as ‘Mr. IPL’ looked forward to getting picked up by at least one franchise for his base price. However, things were the other way by him getting unsold in the IPL 2022 auction.
IPL 2022 rumors of Raina’s association with Gujarat Titans
There were rumors floating about Raina going to be picked up by the newly added franchise Gujarat Titans since they lost the English opener, Jason Roy. Jason Roy decided to leave the lucrative tournament because the bubble fatigue took a toll on his mental health.
Therefore, as Roy’s replacement, there were talks that Raina would be the perfect candidate for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022. However, sources close to the GT franchise shrugged down the rumors by saying that he is not even considered for the spot.
An end of Raina’s association
Raina not getting picked by any franchises in the IPL 2022 auction puts an end to his long-term association with IPL for the time being. Raina still stands as the 4th highest-run scorer in the history of the Indian Premier League. Raina has scored a total of 4428 runs only behind Virat Kohli (6283), Rohit Sharma (5784), and Shikhar Dhawan (5611).

Hardik Pandya, a native Gujarati player, and Indian cricketer have been chosen as the skipper of the Gujarat Titans squad. Pandya was acquired by the franchise for INR 15 crores ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. In addition, the Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill were also drafted before the auction.
