
Shane Watson is all set to take up the role of an assistant coach of Delhi Capitals for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). The former Australian all-rounder is one of the most outstanding performers that cricket lovers have witnessed. Shane Watson has 3874 runs and 92 wickets under his name. He stepped down from professional cricket after having last played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020. Watson has been an active commentator since then.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will lead the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 and people expect highly of him. With the names like David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Rovman Powell, and Mitchell marsh it will be a task cut out for them.
Shane Watson as an assistant coach
The two-time IPL winner with Rajasthan Royals (2008) and Chennai Super Kings (2018), Shane Watson will be an assistant coach for Delhi capitals in the IPL 2022, in fact, have a few of them working under Ponting.
However, it has now been understood that Delhi Capitals who got qualified for the playoffs in the last three seasons have secured his services in the coaching department. Reports suggest that Shane Watson got roped in as an assistant coach on Delhi Capital’s head coach Ricky Ponting’s recommendation.
Ajit Agarkar pairs up with Shane Watson
Former Indian cricketer, Ajit Agarkar will join his former franchise as its assistant coach along with Shane Watson. Agarkar played for Delhi Capitals from 2011 to 2013. He played for Kolkata Knight Riders from 2008 to 2010.
Agarkar is new to coaching for an IPL side and will be making his debut in IPL 2022 for Delhi Capitals. Agarkar is India’s 3rd highest wicket-taker in the One Day Internationals, bagging 288 wickets in 191 matches. He also has appeared in 26 Test matches. Agarkar is a member of the 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad, he has played 4 T20Is. However, he announced his retirement from professional cricket in 2013.

Agarkar will be partnering up with Shane Watson as an assistant coach but he will be primarily working with the fast bowling unit.

Praveen Amre, a former Indian batter, will continue to serve the franchise as another assistant coach. James Hopes, former Aussie all-rounder is another name associated with Delhi Capitals when it comes to coaching. He has been the bowling coach. Saba Karim will be the TEAM scout and advisor.
The squad and staff of Delhi Capitals look pretty balanced from the outside and they would like to continue their astonishing run in the lucrative tournament. The IPL 2022, with two additional teams, is expected to commence by the end of March.
