
Punjab Kings have named Mayank Agarwal captain in the upcoming IPL 2022. KL Rahul, who moved to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2022, will be replaced by the 31-year-old top-order batter is been with the franchise since 2018.
Mayank has hands-on experience as the vice-captain of the franchise. He even led the team for a brief period during Rahul’s absence last season. Mayank is one of the two players that Punjab Kings retained during the auction.
Anil Kumble’s statement on Mayank Agarwal
Anil Kumble, the head coach of Punjab Kings, stated that Mayank Agarwal has been an integral part of the squad since 2018. He is also part of the leadership group for the past two years. The newly selected squad for IPL 2022 consists of exciting young talent and outstanding experienced players. Kumble added.

Mayank Agarwal has completed 100 Indian Premier League games since making his debut in 2011. However, he is becoming the captain of a franchise for the first time. When asked about his promotion, the Indian player said that he has been a part of the Punjab Kings since 2018. He takes a lot of pride in representing the franchise. He welcomes the promotion that is given to him. He urges to take responsibility with utmost sincerity. He said that he believes in the squad and with them, it will be easier for him to do the job.
Mayank added that they have real talent and vast experience in their ranks. However, they also have young talents who are keen to grab the opportunity as well.
