CSK and LSG overview
Both Chennai Super Kings, as well as Lucknow Super Giants, will be alerted high on strategies and improved top-order performance will be on the priority list of their agenda. CSK and LSG played their opening match at the Wankhede Stadium. They both batted first and posted under 160 runs which were insufficient to consider a total. Though their top-order failed in performing well, the middle-order of both the franchises took the responsibility to push their respective teams ahead.
The support that both the teams require
Dwayne Bravo, the joint-highest wicket-taker in the IPL, is still dependable when it comes to taking wickets whenever they are in need. Deepak Chahar will be unavailable for CSK and they are left short on quality options in the powerplay. Tushar Deshpande and Adam Milne will need to step up in the first six overs to match up to that.
Dushmantha Chameera and Avesh Khan, LSG’s two quality pacers, can bowl well both in the powerplay and at the death, while Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi can strangle opponents in the middle overs.
With Rahul Tewatia doing what he does, one extra over for Hooda and keeping Bishnoi’s last over for the 17th was an expensive blunder. With an eye on the match-ups and how to respond to them, KL Rahul needs to be more decisive with his captaincy decisions.

Team details – CSK and LSG

Lucknow Super Giants
Unavailable players: Marcus Stoinis, Kyle Mayers, Jason Holders
LSG tactics: KL Rahul and Manish Pandey have been both struggling against the left-arm spin of Ravindra Jadeja. They managed to get only a strike rate of 87.80 and 102.63 respectively. Meanwhile, Krunal has dismissed Jadeja twice in 15 deliveries. Therefore, LSG might consider keeping an over of their left-arm spinner when the CSK skipper comes on the crease.
Possible Playing XI for LSG: KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Dushmantha Chameera, Mohsin Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan
Chennai Super Kings
Unavailable players: Deepak Chahar
CSK tactics: Moeen Ali’s comeback will be a huge morale boost for the Chennai team. With the presence of three lefties in the LSG lineup, Moeen is a good match while he can also play the role of a spin-hitter in the middle overs.
Possible Playing XI for CSK: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande
