Pandemic and BCCI’s postponement of the tournaments
BCCI had to postpone two tournaments in the midst of the Omicron wave last month. The two lucrative tournaments were supposed to start with the Ranji Trophy. BCCI had to postpone the games considering the safety of the players, support staff, match officials, and other participants.
BCCI, while announcing the postponement has also added that it would monitor the whole situation. It has stated that it will analyze and take control of the situation before taking a call at the start of the tournaments accordingly. With the pandemic situation improving across the country, plans are being taken to show the green signal to start the tournaments.
However, BCCI is yet to announce any whereabouts on the Cooch Behar Trophy under 19 tournament. The tournament got postponed at the quarter-final phase because of the increasing number of cases among the participating teams. The tournament was being held in Pune before the postponement to January 10.
