The head coach of KKR, Brendon McCullum came out with appreciation towards the aggressive barring approach of KKR after the RCB vs KKR match. This happened despite the result of the match where KKR got bowled out for 128 in the clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Brendon McCullum was pleased with the batting approach of KKR as they stuck to the prescribed doctrine of attack. Any approach otherwise could have gotten them a slightly bigger total.
The Knight Riders were put on a tricky surface with bounce being variable. Therefore, they were reduced to 44 for 3 at the powerplay. The likes of Shreyas Iyer and Sunil Narine decided to take down the spinners and lost their wickets over the course.
The batters were aware of the risks involved but they were also mindful of how the game has assisted the chasers in each of the preceding games this season.
Brendon McCullum’s statement on the RCB vs KKR match
Brendon McCullum has stated that he loved the intent that the team had put out and thought it was great. You are not expecting to get bowled out so quickly and you are playing the long line-up. These things happen as they went for the aggressive option and found a fielder in the way.
He said that he want the team to continue to keep that aggression in the team because that is what served the batting side so well.
Brendon McCullum added that it was a good contest and the game is not always about the high scores, it is also about fighting for the scores that we have reached.

KKR’s fight despite the low score in the RCB vs KKR match
Despite scoring a below-average total, the Knight Riders did exceptionally well with the ball to fight RCB on their chase. Umesh Yadav struck twice in the Powerplayto set the wheels of a comeback. However, Shreyas Iyer was forced to bring Venkatesh Iyer for the first time in the second-last over when Russel injured his shoulder while fielding.
Andre Russel had run around the boundary and dived stopped the ball and picked up a bump on the course of it. That injury made his shoulders a bit sore. As to how dedicated Russel is, he still wanted to try and get the job done. However, he was not quite able to get back into the game. McCullum said that thrilling things like this can also happen in low-scoring matches like this as well.
