The Bangladesh Cricket Board will hold a serious discussion with pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman about his plans for the longest format since the board still wants him to play.
On Thursday, BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus notified of the situation, adding that they are prepared to control his workload if he feels Test cricket is taxing him. Mustafizur had previously opted out of the Test contract when BCB chose to introduce format-wise contracts in 2021 because he was uncomfortable with the bio-secure methodology.
BCB, on the other hand, believes the moment has come to sit down with him and see if his thinking has changed as a result of covid protocols being comparatively eased around the world.
History of Mustafizur Rahman with Bangladesh Cricket
Mustafizur has appeared in just 14 of Bangladesh’s 39 Tests since his Test debut in 2015. The left-arm pace bowler was forced to miss seven Tests because BCB refused to sign him to a Test contract despite his protests. Bangladesh was without him for the one-off match against Zimbabwe, as well as the two-match Test series against Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa.
In an exclusive interview with, Bangladesh’s newly-appointed fast bowling coach Allan Donald stated that Mustafizur Rahman still has a lot to contribute to Test cricket.
Everyone is aware of the situation. When Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam were ruled out of the second Test against South Africa due to injuries, Mustafizur’s name came up for consideration. Jalal also stated that, in the next years, BCB will determine the formats of the players rather than asking them about their preferences before signing the national contract.
BCB’s statement on Mustafizur Rahman

Next time, BCB said they won’t say, please let us know who wants to play in which format. They’ll say you have to play in this format, and if any player wants to negotiate and say he won’t play in three forms, that’s great, but he needs to say he doesn’t want to play, and they’ll fix it (formats), BCB explained.
On Thursday, around 17 to 18 national cricketers, including Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and Mahmudullah, signed their national contracts at the BCB.
